How to use the xml sitemap checker

Understand your report
The checker accepts XML urlset and sitemapindex documents. It extracts location entries, reports malformed URLs and duplicate locations, and shows a sample of the listed addresses. A sitemap index lists child sitemaps; this check does not automatically crawl every child file.
